Modern luxe dining in Gidi

@rsvp

R.S.V.P brought minimalistic chic to Lagos in 2014 and it hasn’t looked back.
Genuinely, when you step into the space, it doesn’t feel like you’re in Lagos and before you ITK’s start blasting off, it’s simply because there aren’t any other restaurants in Lagos like this – it’s an anomaly. Of course, there’s Nok which we’re big fans of but that’s a completely different beast altogether – awash with colour and texture.
R.S.V.P is all clean lines. We're into the, simple, low hanging black lampshades, concrete floor, marble effect tables and tan leather chairs whose cumulative effect is that of a hip, modern, luxurious space. A couple of things are a bit tired like the plates and the menus look a little worn but overall you can't complain.

The poolside is gorgeous with a sleek bar and a plethora of fans to keep you cool in the Lagos heat. They have a DJ stand set up for when they want to bring the party.
Down to the grub, like most Lagos restaurants, the menu can be generically described as ‘International’ – meaning anything and everything. Burgers, pasta, crumble – it’s all here but the difference at R.S.V.P, is that it’s actually executed well e.g your greens will be green, not brown and overcooked.

The goat's cheese tartine was particularly good - everything tasty, from the tomatoes to the spinach, drizzled over with balsamic. The chin chin dusted calamari was decent but could have done with more of a crunch; the prawn gyoza delectable; the lobster salad fresh; and the sea bass, potatoes and greens very decent indeed but the ₦12K price tag is hard to swallow (you could split the dish though as the portion is very generous).

Lastly, their cocktails are generally well balanced, so treat yourself to one or two. We vote for the Bloody B.
The service was assured and professional and wait times reasonable. The toilets were a delight; yep, this is a big deal in Lagos.
All in all, a much valued spot in the Lagos restaurant scene.

We are napkin, menu and toilet fascists. Here's our verdict:

Napkins: actual cotton napkins. Praise be

Menus: a bit tired, could do with a refresh (oh and their plates too)

Toilet: you know the sorts of places that stock Aesop in their toilets? Well RSVP is on that vibe
