LA BRIOCHE
Fab brunch in an intimate space

La Brioche is on Musa Yardua Street. There's one main room and when it gets busy they spill out into another space out back which doubles up as a private dining room. There's a little courtyard separating the two spaces.

We MUCH prefer the space outback, so get the waiters to sit you here if possible. The front room is way too chintzy for our liking, satin curtain drapery galore. The back room is a bit more tasteful in our opinion with a lovely bouquet of colorful hanging flowers, though you definitely feel like your sitting in a box. If you want to have a private conversation, La Brioche is not the one as it's a fairly small and intimate space.
We were mega impressed with our food. The Lobster Benedict (₦3.600) was divine, the brioche bun pillowy and the eggs perfectly runny with a decent serving of lobster.

If you like creamy pasta (₦5.200) , try the salmon asparagus option, which is really rather dreamy; quality ingredients at play here and cooked well. It's also a very decently sized portion.

We were going to get mimosas (₦1.500) but somehow got talked into having off menu cocktails. As fans for capirinhas and on a quest to find our fave in Lagos, we opted for this - they hadn't made it before and you could tell. It wasn't great. We wouldn't order it again, especially not at the ₦3k price tag. A strawberry smoothie mocktail thing also came in at ₦3k, so always make sure to check prices before you order anything off menu as you could be stung with a nasty surprise. On that note, also good to know, they add a 5% consumption tax and 10% service charge. So yah, be conscious of that when ordering.
After much deliberation, we went with the lemon cake to finish things off. We shouldn't have. It was dry, a bit oily and just thoroughly underwhelming. We sincerely hope the other sweet treats are better.

We ended up spending ₦17k but you can eat here for less if you stick to their egg based menu and don't order their ₦3k cocktails.

The owner's husband happened to be around when we visited, he's fairly boisterous; we personally welcomed the fun interaction but if you're not in the mood for talking, then make it clear and he'll move on. You feel confident ordering from him because he knows what he's talking about. Wi-fi is also only available through the oga / madam.
The waiters were lovely but not very present, perhaps it's because we weren't in the main room, so at times we had to get up to fetch someone to help us.
We would 100% return to La Brioche, we were thoroughly impressed with the quality of the produce and deft cooking. Just avoid that lemon cake.

We are napkin, menus and toilet fascists. Here's our verdict:

Napkins: good quality paper napkins

Menus: paper menus - not too worn

Toilet: urgh. They need to do better. Not dirty but just a sad sad space
